Brief student guide to London

Brief student guide to London

This is a brief student guide to London written by a(n art) student in London, for students in London, hopefully for simple & easy following and reading to finding the knooks and crannies to enjoy London as much as possible in your student time.

First year in London? No problem.

Student Union

Make use of it! Drinks can be expensive if you want to keep up with the social nightlife schedule in London & don't want to end up eating Tesco Value baked beans for a month. Even better, try and get a part time job there, cheap drinks AND earn at the same time.

Student Nights

Check out the promotions going out in and around you University Student Union & Bars, as there will always be notices about Student Nights around London, whether that may be in a rave party or a pop night, you sure don't want to miss out getting to know more people for Networking, you never know who anyone may know...

Facebook

This ingenious piece of technology has connected millions of people; in terms of finding events from London Water Fight or last day of drinking on the tube, someone is bound to set an event up on there.

Galleries

Really can be just a day out to relax your brain whilst gaining insight on culture.
Even just a short walk around London you might stumble across a small gallery, East London in particular.
Exhibitions and trade fairs can also be found here

Burglaries / Theft

FACT. Student houses get burgled.
Thieves are just eyeing out for first years / student living areas with iPods and laptops bought by parents before venturing to lands afar. A good tip is to put up cardboard from used boxes on windows & hopefully trick burglars into thinking there is nothing worth taking inside.

Living

Constant Tesco Value stock up? Neverrrrr.
Actually, bulk-buying cheap stuff in the cupboard will only end up going to waste as most foods have sell by date, so always check what you have in your cupboard and try improvise your meals. Then set a list so that you can budget your weekly grocery shopping.

Freebies

Students are always after free things, check out affiliate marketing sites & Student-dedicated sites and see what you can gain for free.
Sites such as freestuff-forever | no fuss freebie goodness or StudentBeans.com are just examples.
